we love chores at our house.
seriously.
the only thing i hate about chores is that i don't have enough time to do them.
but there is something very satisfying and rewarding about cleaning up.
as i've already discussed, levi loves to swiffer and vacuum. i was even heard bribing him into his nap by saying, "if you don't get out of bed, when you wake up you can swiffer."
and piper can put garbage in the garbage can like no one's business. unfortunately she's not super-good at discerning garbage from non-garbage, so i have to remember to check the bags. she even threw my visiting teacher's keys away. i bet when they thought, "let's run do our VT "real fast" they weren't factoring pickles in to the equation....
recently i decided to add a new chore to levi's list: set the dinner table.
when i first presented the idea to him he was excited. "yeah! i can do it!" and he ran to the dishwasher to gather his supplies. "i should have done this MONTHS ago!" i thought, and went about cooking.
i must have been making one of my gourmet meals, a-hem, because by the time i noticed he had set our place settings on the table in front of the tv.
"oh! hey buddy, you did a great job getting all the settings, but we need to get them on our dinner table!"
"i did. see? right there."
"but....our dinner table is over here...."
"no. THAT'S our 'project table'. THIS is our dinner table."

"well said, son. well said."
our "dinner" table
i love how not only am i having my 6-hour-old drink with my dinner, but that levi and i are sitting together and pickles is sitting alone. i love the subtleties of children.
